Are marketing rules changing?

Azil Boutique - San Francisco, CATwo days ago I was walking in San Francisco,
and by chance I entered into the Azil boutique. I decided to buy two pieces of jewelry, and I asked for a discount price for buying both of them. They answered that it was not possible, but if I would have liked their page on Facebook I could have had 15% discount. Asked for the WiFi password, and I liked their page.

Yesterday I was walking in Palo Alto, and I came nearby the offices of Waze. "A free car iPhone holder if you enter here showing you use our application". I use it. I got a free car iPhone holder.

Moral: once upon a time, people used their websites to advertise their businesses. Today they use their businesses to advertise their websites.

Bah!
